This painting is
a reinterpretation of Raphael’s painting,’ school of Athens’. Here
Gathering of philosophers of the ancient world welcoming President Bush
in the school of Athens. Socrates conversation with President Bush,
while other heroes of thought busy making the diagrams of missiles. This
painting is a satire on America’s imperial power, nation’s obsession to
weapons and it’s a start of making new history now. President Bush holding a gun and Socrates is telling him about the new rules of engagement in war against terrorism; behind Socrates are Alabicades (military leader) and American women of 21st century wondering at this scene. The early Greek philosophers: Pythagoras, Anaximander and Epicurus writing their books of doctrines in 21 century by using the diagrams and drawings of missiles in their books, instead of spending in search of knowledge, behind Bush is President Musharraf saluting wearing the mask of tiger, being an ally in the war against terrorism. |
